We spent a whole week in Genoa, in the Ligurian region in Italy, also known as the Italian Riviera. Johan had a conference and I went along with him. We only had 2 full days together, as the other ones he would be working or we would be travelling to or from home. We decided to explore the Ligurian region during those days, as we would have the evenings to see more of Genoa itself.
Passámos uma semana inteirinha em Génova, na região da Liguria na Itália, também conhecida como a riviera italiana. O Johan tinha uma conferência e eu fui com ele. Como só tínhamos 2 dias inteiros juntos, porque ele iria trabalhar nos outros, decidimos passa-los a explorar a costa Liguriana, deixando a cidade de Génova em si para os fins de tarde.
In the first day, we took the train to St. Margherita and we planned to walk to Portofino and to Camogli. It was the only grey day we had the whole week, but fortunately it didn't rain. Portofino ended up being so nice and beautiful that we decided to walk around more there and skip the hike to Camogli. Well, we also found out that the hike Portofino - Camogli would take 5h, and we would be stretching time to do it before sunset. We might have missed some nice views, but the ones we got were already great! Check out our pictures!
No primeiro dia apanhámos o comboio para St. Margherita. O plano era caminhar até Portofino e depois até Camogli. Quando chegamos a Portofino gostamos tanto que decidimos não ir até Camogli e passar mais tempo ali mesmo. Também ajudou o facto de descobrirmos que a caminhada de Portofino a Camogli demorava 5h, e se a fizessemos iamos estar numa luta contra o tempo para a fazermos antes do pôr do sol. Talvez tenhamos perdido algumas vistas bonitas, mas as que vimos já eram fantásticas. Vejam as nossas fotos!

On the bottom of the stairs there is a group of men who visited this 2 towns 40 years ago and now they were back to celebrate and remember it. Awesome story! We promised them to go back in 40 years ourselves, so in 2056!!

The walk to Portofino first goes through the bay and the port of St. Margherita, then it goes along the road and finally a bit higher through a trail in the forest which gives you wonderful views of the sea. The whole thing takes 1h30 - 2h, depending how many times you stop for pictures (many!).
Aqui começamos a caminhar para Portofino. Primeiro passa-se a baía de St. Margherita, depois o porto, depois caminha-se à beira da estrada e finalmente sobe-se um pouco num trilho pela floresta, o que nos dá vistas muito bonitas do mar. O caminho todo leva de 1h30 a 2h, dependendo de quanto se pára para tirar fotos (muito!).

Portofino - the actual town is hidden in the bay, but we can see some of the boats in the port.

I understand why so many celebrities go to Portofino on vacation. It is a lovely place! Unfortunately, the prices are also higher here, although still okay to spend a day or two.

Agora percebo perfeitamente porque é que tantas celebridades escolhem Portofino para passar férias. É um lugar lindo! Infelizmente isso também faz com que os preços sejam mais altos. Ainda assim dá para se passar um dia ou dois.
