You got to love Sweden #8 - News

A Swedish TV channel broadcasts a special edition of news in easier-to-understand Swedish, so that all foreigners understand and practise their Swedish.

Sveriges Television, SVT launches a newscast in easy Swedish addressed to anyone, who finds it difficult to keep up with regular newscasts.

Sveriges Television, SVT’s mission is to deliver news to everyone in Sweden. In order to reach out to citizens who find it difficult to keep up with the regular news, they have launched this new newscast that aims to cover the same news as regular newscasts (...) but in easier Swedish.

From here.

Could Sweden be more welcomy?

Um canal de TV sueco passa uma edição das notícias diárias em sueco mais-fácil-de-entender, para que todos os estrangeiros possam entender e praticar o seu sueco.

Poderiam ser mais acolhedores?

  1. I've never heard of that happening in any country. I think it is an excellent idea to encourage more people to learn the language.

    1. I agree. It's so kind of them that I feel even more motivated to do it.

  2. Excellent idea! Just can't imagine how they can simplify a language though?

    1. I was told they simply use more simple words, words that foreigners might learn first. I guess more or less the same way you would translate a piece in the news to a child.
