Ligurian food

Now on to my favourite part of my trip to Italy... the food! I love italian food! I make my own pasta now and then, I love the simplicity of a good bruschetta, and I really enjoy making things caprese.   My week in Liguria was an inspiration to try new flavours, dishes and ingredientes. The best part of all? For the first time in my entire life I did not put on weight during a trip. Italian food is healthy, full of fresh ingredientes and the 20 plus kilometres walks must have helped a lot as well.

Pesto is originally from Genoa and one can find many different versions of it as each Genovese has its own way of making it (basil of different sizes, cheese of different ages and cures, etc.). Trofie, a kind of pasta that can be made with chestnuts flour, is one of the most popular pasta to eat with pesto. Other than that there's all the focaccias, pizzas, and seafood.

Yes, there are pictures... get ready to get hungry!

Agora vamos à minha parte favorita da viagem à Itália... a comida! Eu adoro comida italiana! Sabem a melhor parte?

It was like I ate all of them again while I was writing this post! I became a huge fan of pesto after this trip and I have already been trying some of these recipes in my kitchen. I'll show the results.

  1. Yum! I love Italian food! And pesto! (We make our own in summer with basil from the garden. And almonds instead of pine nuts). And yes, I am hungry now!

    1. There's nothing like good fresh basil just off the garden to make good pesto. I bet it's awesome!
